Is It Comfortable?
Is a bedroll comfortable for us old guys?
I got hit from behind on my bike a few years ago and suffered neck damage, plus a couple of slipped disc in my back, so I know about trying to get comfortable. And an air mat on the dirt isn’t. Nothing is going to compare to my big pillow top mattress at home. I also believe it’s not as comfortable as your average cheap hotel mattress here on the west coast.
Having said those bad things about sleeping on the ground, I will go as far as to guarantee that our bedrolls are absolutely, totally 100%, more comfortable than sleeping on the ground without it. (humor attempt)
Comfortable is a difficult word. The Therm-a-Rest self-inflating mattresses built inside the Original Oregon Bedroll performs remarkably for how thin it is. We’ve built a ‘Test Drive Station’ that is a bed of big lumpy Willamette river rocks, customers get to try our bedroll in the worse conditions possible, and it’s just amazing how it soaks up lumps. When you sit on it at first you clearly feel the boulders under the bedroll, but when you lie down they seem to disappear, very impressive.
